3 bedroom property in Rye. Pet friendly.
Close to the banks of the River Rother in Rye Harbour, this pretty, semi-detached part-weatherboarded cottage makes an excellent holiday destination for exploring this fascinating area. Once the domain of smugglers, it is now one of the most important conservation sites in Britain. Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area for birds, and Dungeness RSPB is just a short drive away. Stroll along the many footpaths and, settle in a bird hide, spot a seal in the river or take a walk out to the ruins of Henry VIII’s Camber Castle which lies between Rye and Winchelsea. It was originally located overlooking the shallow sea on a single spit that protected these two towns. The medieval Cinque Port town of Rye is now 1½ miles inland and it is worth exploring the cobbled streets with their tea shops, restaurants, art galleries and Kino cinema. This is great cycling territory, so bring your bikes or hire them in Rye. Fishing is also available and day tickets can be obtained on arrival (at cost). Camber Sands is a short drive away, where, as well as taking the opportunity to build sandcastles, you can try your hand at some of the water sports on offer. Hastings and Battle also make for great days out. Shop 10 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
